William Gay Memorial Prize in Short Story
Porchlight is proud to announce that DANIEL REISS is the winner of the inaugural William Gay Memorial Prize for his short story, "The Princess Motel." As winner, Daniel will receive $500 and a trophy. His story, and well as the three runner-up entries, will be published in Porchlight in late January and included in Porchlight's first print anthology in the summer of 2026. The runners-up: Ken Teutsch for "Marylou Birdwell's Request," Blake Kennett for "Micah's Drowning," and Jon Ross Anderson for "Pepper." The three-judge panel read blind entries over the month of December.
The second annual William Gay Memorial Prize in Short Story will be held in the fall of 2026. Porchlight is planning a poetry competition for the spring of 2026. An announcement with complete details will be posted soon.
